NEW h&s TRACKS ON MR. FURIOUS XMAS COMPILATION – December 05. howie&scott were back in action Thanksgiving weekend, recording two tracks for Mr. Furious Records’ XMAS comp of original holiday music. Scott’s free jazz work “At its Rising” and howie’s seasonal pop tune “Merry Christmas” are available at mrfuriousrecords.com, along with tracks by echoes and Beach-Puppy. You can also sample our track for next year, “O Come Thou Dayspring,” on Furious Instance this month!
h&s doesn’t have any concrete plans beyond XMAS, but the new songs represent the first recordings together since signs.comets was put down in the summer of 2003. Distance may be a hurdle, but we have all kinds of possibilities in front of us. See you… -h
NEBRASKA VERSES FEATURING HOWIE&SCOTT AT MR. FURIOUS RECORDS – September 05. The Nebraska Verses are a collection of tracks recorded by Mr. Furious artists and friends (including h&s, Shacker, and Blame the Game) during 2001-04. Live cuts, studio out-takes, and other unreleased odds and ends tell our story from those years. There are several new howie&scott tracks, including live electric versions of “Major & Minor,” “After Hrs. War,” and “After the Countdown” recorded at the lincoln-music.com launch show, an early demo of “Staircase,” and new live versions of oldies “Mightier Than The Sword” and “My Friends.” Download Nebraska Verses from Mr. Furious Records.
GILMO RELEASES POINTS OF PARALLAX AT MR. FURIOUS RECORDS – May 05. Scott’s ongoing project with Allen Gilbert has resulted in an EP of free jazz, which you can download for free over at MFR. He’s also done a [blog] entry about the new music. This is the first publicly-available recording of Scott doing anything since h&s’ signs.comets.
howieandscott.com SITE RE-LAUNCH – May 05. howieandscott.com has been updated and redesigned to better reflect what the band is working on currently. MFR is the site of most of the action regarding new music, downloads, news, blogging, and other dynamic things; howieandscott.com is becoming a resource to accompany our music, telling the stories behind it all.
Probably the coolest new thing is the handslist archive of email messages.

Surf over to MFR to download the remixed, remastered “Bon Jovi” in better-sounding .m4a format. howie&scott’s magnum opus to 80’s metal, borderline-clinical delusion, and big existential questions has never rocked harder! The track is the third installment of Furious Instance, an emerging compilation of songs by MFR artists and others as well.

1 AUGUST 04 – THE MOVE to minnesota has gone as smoothly as one could expect. time at WCC is going well, and we are starting to dig in together as we seek the heart of Christianity. musically, all the work that is going into mr furious records keeps bringing us closer to launch. my 6-song solo ep (under new band name “echoes”) and shacker’s new “Knowing Her Best…” await mastering using some new tools i have in the studio. when that is done, and the website built, off we will go on this next phase – warm up your internet connections, because the new music really cooks and as long as you’ve got bandwidth, we’re going to give it to you, literally. i am still aiming for the end of the month, but if not then certainly in september we will put this music at your fingertips.

THE JUNE CIRCUIT COMPLETE – June 04. howie&scott has entered an extended “new moon” phase – you don’t see us, but that doesn’t mean we’re not here. the phrases, some pulled from older news posts;
after Independence Day, howie will relocate to Wayzata, MN to spend a year with the Wayzata Community UCC Church. scott will be at doane, studying and playing jazz.
our love & appreciation we send to everyone at last night’s show – it was a good surprise to see so many friends unexpectedly. and continuing to you who have been to shows, listened to records, stuck stickers, and been friends to us in and beyond music. we are still having a great time playing – listen to “bigger sounds…” and then “easter III” to see how much ground we have covered – h&s is one of the best parts of life for us. we couldn’t be happier to be sharing it.

For those who have not participated in a mastering session before it consists of paying a rocker to look at the back of his head all day and periodically say yes or no, and sometimes just a nod of the head is sufficient. -s (scott)

2 OCTOBER 03 – signs.comets: we are working like mad, recording voices and 2nd percussion parts, sax, and mixing in order to be ready for mastering (17 October). artwork is also coming along – we haven’t seen anything yet but some amazing ideas and work is being brought into the picture. you all will most likely see the finished work before i will, and that’s something i think about – it helps me have a double-perspective, on making sure we have the record we want and also constantly thinking about what you all would like to hear/see, and how to give you the best work possible. -h
