Check this out; I’m getting pseudo-4-voice paraphony from a two-oscillator monosynth!

The patch includes Gattobus’ 2-voice paraphonic patch, an oscillating high-pass filter, and feedback oscillation from the external signal processor (ESP).  The ESP drone is going through tremolo and flanger pedals, and the entire output is going through a delay pedal.

I’ve used it to record a cover of My Bloody Valentine’s “Come In Alone,” live, in one take/pass. [member_only]Last fall, as Cory and I were planning to record the second Cool Drugs EP at his house on his gear, I started collecting my top-level thoughts about mixing music. The goal was to put enough information on a single page to guide Cory, or any first-timer, in creating a solid mix.

The result is Mixing For Dumb Idiots.

Mixing for Dumb Idiots is a series of one-page reference guides on the steps of making music recordings. I’ve published the mixing and mastering pages, with more to come on composition, arrangement, recording, and editing.
